Political Cancer
Radiation and chemotherapy needed
We humans have become the most successful species on earth because of our ability and talent to cooperate with one another including with complete strangers. Without cooperation, there would be no human life.* While this principle expresses itself in the evolution of communities —from tribe, to village, to town, to cities, to kingdoms, and to nations currently— there have been plenty of instances of community developments which failed, including some which lasted for centuries (feudalism), some still in the ugly process of failing (organized religion), or others which grew so quickly they could not develop long-term survival mechanisms (global corporations). The failures have in common intrinsic limits to cooperation. They all reach a point of exclusion beyond which they cannot accept cooperation with others and resort to violence for their survival. And fail.
This organic social evolution process which builds on the species talent for cooperation is developing an international open society with the intellectual and financial resources to address global threats it inherited from its failing ancestors. The Invisible Hand is growing a visible brain to keep it from clawing itself out of existence.
Just like a living organism (although it is not an organism), the international open society is subject to infections that can threaten its existence: communities that grow within some of its organs and attack it like cancer cells. Cancer cells also cooperate, but only with one another, and, unchecked, multiply enough to destroy their host. Climate change, population as well as viral migrations, homelessness, poverty, income inequality, loss of habitat are real issues which the international community can address through science and economic redirection. Impeding the remedies urgently needed is the fast growing cancer of far-right extremism which is devouring education, free speech, creativity, and choice. It needs to be eradicated like a malignant cancer. Not by vote, not by schooling, but with political radiation and chemotherapy.
Trump, Putin, Netanyahu, Bukele, Musk, Thiel, and their sycophants are toxic cells which threaten the health of the whole body of humanity. They have to be defanged, tried, convicted, and sentenced to exile for life in remote outposts (places like St Helena in the south Atlantic for historic continuity or Guantanamo for poetic justice).
